Terms of use

Plain terms for a free game site. Using it means you are fine with these.

What you get

PartyGames is free to use, with no account and no payment. You may play the games, run rooms, use the tools and share links to any page, for personal or work game nights alike, at no cost and with nothing to sign.

Nothing here is guaranteed to keep existing. Games get added, changed and occasionally retired, and a room is temporary by design — it disappears shortly after you stop playing in it.

What we ask of you

Do not:

  • harass, threaten, or target anyone in a room, or use a display name intended to abuse someone;
  • post content that is illegal, or sexual content involving minors — a permanent ban and, where required, a report;
  • attack the service: automated load, scraping at volume, attempts to break out of a room you are not in, or anything aimed at degrading it for other people;
  • attempt to read another player's hidden information other than by playing the game;
  • impersonate the site, its operators, or another player in a way meant to deceive.

Hosts have the tools for the smaller problems: kicking someone, banning them from that room, a vote-kick, a family-language filter, and approval on join. Use them — they work faster than we can.

Content in the games

Prompts, questions and word lists are written for a mixed audience and can still land badly with a particular group — that is the nature of a party game. Hosts can skip any prompt. A small number of games are adult-only and are unlisted, kept off every browse page, and gated behind a switch the host has to turn on; do not run one with people who have not agreed to it.

What players type and draw is theirs and is not moderated in real time. It is also not stored beyond the room, which means we cannot retrieve it for you afterwards either.

Age

You need to be 13 or older to use the site, and 18 or older for the adult-only games. If you are under 18, play with the adult-only content switched off.

No warranty, and the limit of our liability

The service is provided as-is and as-available, with no warranty of any kind. It may be down, a game may have a bug, a round may be lost to a bad connection, and a server restart can end a game in progress. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for any indirect or consequential loss arising from using it — and given the service is free, any direct liability is limited to what you paid for it, which is nothing.

Access can be suspended without notice where it is being used to break the rules above or to damage the service.

Trademarks and the games themselves

Traditional games are not owned by anyone — Mafia, Charades, Antakshari, Tambola, Snakes and Ladders and the rest are in the public domain, and these are our own implementations of their rules. Where a game is well known under a trademarked name, we use a descriptive name instead and any such trademark belongs to its owner; no affiliation or endorsement is implied. The site's own name, copy and code remain ours.

Changes

These terms can change; the date at the top moves when they do. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the new version. See also the privacy policy, or get in touch if something here needs clarifying.
